Psalm 7:7
7Let the assembled peoples gather around you, while you sit enthroned over them on high.
Someone published, “He who reads newspapers knows what’s happening in the world. He who reads the Bible knows the why of what is happening in the world.” Anyone can be concerned about being left out from social gatherings. We are social being, and if possible, we want to be involved somehow.
There are traditional activities that everyone may participate, but Christians should be mindful of activities that may oppose to our faith in the Lord. How should we choose activities that are pleasant to the Lord? We pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom and interpret properly when he reveals which practical step we should take. It declares in 2 Timothy 1:7, 7For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
To gather as congregation and participate during praise and worship of the Lord (for the many great things he has done in our life) promotes love for God and self-discipline to prioritize him instead of our human natural inclination. The term “power” is the same “power” that we should wait and receive when the Holy Spirit comes on us. Christ instructed in Acts 1:8, 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
The immediate result of empowerment by the Holy Spirit is to be Christ’s witness; we testify of his transformational work in our life wherever he situates us. But when we sense timidity to witness for Christ, we have to pause and wait to be empowered. See? When we publish Christian articles or social media, only a few who have the Holy Spirit in their life will read and put them into practice while non-religious individuals would just ignore them. Even in social media activities, we need inspiration from the Lord for guidance always.
Lord Jesus, help me seek your inspiration always.
