Storm

 Psalm 8:5-6

5You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.  6You made him  ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet.

Farming was a livelihood of many townsfolk somewhere in the Northern Philippines. Sometime in 1970s, a strong typhoon devastated their livelihood. After the bull he used in farming died during the storm, a prominent and religious personality was very furious. He cursed God in his anger; he was disillusioned and lived like a hermit until his death.

Numerous individuals cannot readily accept failures, tragedies, disasters, calamities, catastrophes or heartbreaking experiences in life. Mostly entitled individuals presumed that the world revolves around them. They are disillusioned to presume that they are really important and deserve to be exempted from troubles. Christians, even church leaders are not exempted from difficult problems, adversities, hardships and troubles in this life. When people regard themselves as the most important among other creations, maybe, they have just overlooked the goodness, glory, and honor that God has given them.

Reflect on this. If you view the earth from the universe using Google Earth Apps, a shadow may not even represent humans. Is it clear enough for Google Earth Apps to identify a person from the earth surface? What does that imply? If you can sense how insignificant you are in your eyes, it might help you reconsider your triviality among others. Interestingly, King David experienced that feeling of worthlessness even without the aid of Google Earth Apps. He was overwhelmed with the glory and honor God has given to mankind when he considered the work of God’s hand. King David praised God Almighty in Psalm 8:9: 9O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Lord Jesus may your name be glorified all of my life!
