Colossians 1:9b-10
9bWe continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,10so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.
What is God’s will? Where is God leading me?
Such questions arise when one is trying to figure out what God’s plan is for his/her life, relationships, careers, and calling. It’s easy to worry and be anxious in answering these questions, so it’s important for us to draw closer to God through His Word and sincerely pray for His guidance.
One way to learn if we are walking in God’s will is by examining the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. In Galatians 5:22-23 we read, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” In this point of life and in the places where you are from day to day, do you sense love for the people around you and the work that you do? Are you rejoicing in the Lord always? Do you have peace that surpasses understanding even when you don’t have it all figured out?
While you reflect on the fruit of the Holy Spirit and God’s will in your life, reflect also on what you know about God and what He has done in your life. Trust that He will continue to guide you as you seek Him first and listen for His voice in your everyday life.
Lord, please continue to help me seek You as I examine Your will in my life.
