Psalm 18:5

⁵The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me.

One business that will always have costumers anytime of the year is funeral business. The grave is always waiting for the dead to be buried. It is not smart to discount the grave. Yet many people are not comfortable about death. When we warn about death, denial may confuse them to assume that it is curse for them. If we prepare for the grave, they think that we are pessimistic. We expect death anytime and realize that this world is not our permanent home. We prepare for our everlasting residency in heaven.

Reflect on Philippians 3:19-21, ¹⁹Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. ²⁰But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, ²¹who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

Are you certain of your citizenship in heaven? How strong do you trust without any hint of doubt that when Jesus Christ returns, he will take you into heaven? Evaluate your priority. Are you concerned of eternal significance of your actions? Many students study hard just to please their parents. Likewise, we follow godly commands because we want to please God our heavenly Father and because godly commands are designed for us to explore adventurous life in Christ. It declares in 2 Corinthians 1:21-22, ²¹It is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, ²²set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

We can only obey God when the Holy Spirit inspires us. He also removes fear of the grave but fills our hearts with gladness of longing for the arrival of Christ. May the Lord inspire us always to prepare for our eternal residency.

Lord Jesus, inspire me to follow you always.
