Psalm 11:1
1In the Lord I take refuge. How then can you say to me: “Flee like a bird to your mountain.
It narrated in 1 Samuel 17:42-45, 42Goliath, the Philistine, looked at David and saw that he was little more than a boy, glowing with health and handsome, and he despised him. 43He said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. 44“Come here,” he said, “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and the wild animals!” 45David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
The result: God gave victory to Israel that day. After David defeated the giant Goliath, the Israelite army pursued the Philistines. The Israelites returned from chasing the Philistines and plundered their camp.
Instinctively, we compare our abilities to others. When we think that we are inferior, we readily submit to superiority of others. The victory of David over Goliath is biblical proof that victory belongs to the person whom the Lord favors. The giant Goliath was a veteran soldier; he had fought many battles in his lifetime; he was overconfident that he can easily defeat the young David. And he saw David as a little more than a boy. David knew that pound for pound, muscle for muscle, he cannot defeat the giant Goliath. So, he relied upon the Lord to deliver Goliath into his hands just as he trusted the Lord when he easily killed a lion and a bear that carried off sheep from his flock.
Are you facing a giant problem? Pray for increase of faith to trust God just like David; he trusted the Lord and defeated a lion, a bear and the giant Goliath.
Lord Jesus, increase my faith to trust you more.
