Psalm 18:4
4The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.
A young man had to walk alone several miles early before sunrise just to bring breakfast for his father in the field. He heard stories of ghosts appearing next to Banyan tree (Balete tree) along his path. After several times he passed by the Banyan tree, no ghost appeared. He thought that the ghost may have been scared of him. Anyway, those experiences help him become brave walking alone at night. Then walking on a dark street one evening, a man was running toward him, and another man was running after the first man shouting, “Stop! Stop!” And then he heard two loud gunshot sounds. He froze and stood still while the men passed by him. Before he went to sleep that night, he reflected on that experience and thought, “That was near death experience. What if the bullet found its way to my heart or head? I could have been dead by now.” He was scared what may happen when he dies. He heard that sinners will be punished in hell. But he also heard that Jesus Christ offers eternal life.
It declares in Romans 6:23, 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God loved us, and he wants us to live with him forever. For us to reconsider our need of eternal life in Christ, God had already arranged series of opportunities, even getting entangled by cords of death or destructive problems. But pray and ask God to give you faith in Christ to logically understand that why Christ was crucified.
The young man who thought he was brave until his near death experience pray and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. After the great earthquake in his city, many people died. When he imagine himself as earthquake victim, he sense an overwhelming peace in his heart that he enter heaven. He testifies to such wonderful adventure in Christ.
Lord Jesus, let me testify of your wonders in my life
