Psalm 17:2
2Let my vindication come from you; may your eyes see what is right.
You did your best effort. You did what is right. Yet unexpectedly they rejected your best effort as not good enough. Could their standard be higher than yours? Did they intentionally not want to acknowledge that you did what is right? Anyways, their opinion should challenge you to do better next time and not discourage you to quit doing what is right. First of all, you should identify who discredited your best effort. Do they care for you to excel or do they want you to fail?
When others cannot appreciate your effort, God may allow it to happen so that you would rely upon him to redirect you to the best adventure you may explore. Can you accept that? You applied for a job. They rejected your application. Then you learned that the applicant they chose is not far better than you. Would you ever feel bad?
A graduate applied for a job. His professor recommended him to the employer. However, they choose another applicant with more experience. Instead of feeling bad for not having chosen, the graduate did his best to gain experiences from other establishments. After several years, he landed in a job that he considered as ideal workplace. When he reflected on the previous job opportunities that rejected him, he wondered if he could have better work adventure than at his current workplace.
Let’s reflect on Isaiah 43:7, 7Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.
Christians, we are called to bring glory to the Lord. We do whatever is right in the eyes of the Lord. People around us may approve or reject our efforts. but what matter most is that we rely upon the Lord and win his approval. Approval from mankind can flatter, but when God approves what we do, he recompenses us for sure.
Lord Jesus, let everything I do glorify your name.
