Psalm 18:2
2The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
God saved David from multiple threats, and he praised God. Several times, David and his men hid behind huge rocks and used caves as their fortress, and they eluded the furious King Saul. David acknowledged that without God, King Saul could have easily captured them. At one time, they hid in a cave, and they were just a few meters away from King Saul. It narrated in 1 Samuel 24:2-4, 2Saul took 3,000 able young men from all Israel and set out to look for David and his men near the Crags of the Wild Goats. 3He came to the sheep pens along the way; a cave was there, and Saul went in to relieve himself. David and his men were far back in the cave. 4The men said, “This is the day the Lord spoke of when he said to you, ‘I will give your enemy into your hands for you to deal with as you wish.’” Then David crept up unnoticed and cut off a corner of Saul’s robe.
Life-threatening or not, we praise God like David did. God is our refuge. In the midst of difficult problems, our trust in the Lord is most practical worship to God. Life on earth is intertwined with unexpected surprises. We can be aggressive toward our goals. We want to achieve things we assume as beneficial to us. And we can be defensive from attacks of multiple troublesome challenges. We should be alert against possible discouragement. It declares in Psalm 40:5, 5Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare.
No matter how challenging life could be, we pray for stronger confidence that God designed the best life adventure we can explore in Christ. God is our rock who shields us from storms of life. By faith, trust that.
Lord Jesus, help me find refuge in you alone.
