Psalm 18:7
7The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook; they trembled because he was angry.
No human being can stop natural calamities like earthquake. When the earth trembles, we pray for safety. Who is behind earthquake? Can you accept without any hint of doubt that God causes the earth to tremble and quake? Reflect on Jeremiah 10:10, 10The Lord is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King. When he is angry, the earth trembles; the nations cannot endure his wrath.
Earthquake may destroy buildings. Victims who rejects God would challenge his gracious love. They do not accept that God cares for our welfare and everything he does is righteous. In comparison, genuine believers accept that God is sovereign, and he can do whatever pleases him. If it pleases God to tremble and quake the earth, what can human do? We can pray for his mercy to spare us from painful agony. Jeremiah 10:12-13 says, 12God made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding. 13When he thunders, the waters in the heavens roar; he makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.
God in his gracious love decided for us to be born in this world. He did not consult us if we want to be born. But he designed series of adventures we may explore, and he also gave us freedom to choose which path to take. If we choose to follow his instruction, we explore the best life experience he prepared for believers. Most often, we choose to follow the inclination of our hearts instinctively. Naturally, we cannot perceive if the path we follow is painful and thorny. And when we seek help from God, he intervenes and diverts us to the best path he deems as best adventure for us. The Holy Spirit produces peaceful humility in us to accept that reality.
Lord Jesus, help me let you decide for me.
