Psalm 17:7
7Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes.
What wonder of God’s great love have you experienced yet? Joseph told their father a bad report about his brothers. And twice, his brothers interpreted his dreams that they will bow down to him. That was not acceptable in their culture. So they plotted to kill him. It narrated in Genesis 37:17-22, 19“Here comes that dreamer!” they said to each other. 20“Come now, let’s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then we’ll see what comes of his dreams.” 21When Reuben heard this, he tried to rescue him from their hands. “Let’s not take his life,” he said. 22“Don’t shed any blood. Throw him into this cistern here in the wilderness, but don’t lay a hand on him.”
Reuben was the firstborn son of Jacob, and his brothers listened to his suggestion. Anyway, was it the Lord’s way to keep Joseph alive? Even when his brothers sold Joseph to the Egyptian slavery, the Lord was with him. Joseph became prime minister of Egypt, and his brothers came and bow down to him eventually.
We must trust the process of the Lord with reverent fear, even if other people don’t like us. God will send timely help when we face troubles. He could use difficult circumstances to redirect us to the path that he designed for our favor. Joseph may not readily appreciated when he was sold into slavery. But later he completely understood that God utilized his difficult situation to accomplish godly mission purposes. Joseph declared in Genesis 50:20, 20You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
Lord Jesus, your great plan favors me. Help me trust you process even if it’s tough.
