Psalm 18:10

¹⁰ He mounted the cherubim and flew; he soared on the wings of the wind.

God can go anywhere anytime he wanted. When God soared on the wings of the wind, it implies fascinating way of moving from point to his destination. Nobody can stop the wind. The wind goes wherever it wants. And God can go and do whatever he wants. Did the Psalmist have a vision of God mounted and rode on the cherubim and glided through the wind? The idea that God mounted the cherubim and flew suggests that he is the Lord Almighty. The cherubim perform according to whatever the Lord Almighty desires. It declares in Isaiah 45:19, ¹⁹I, the Lord, speak the truth; I declare what is right.

God is righteous. He does what is right in his eyes. He declares what is right for us. But most often we cannot appreciate the righteous commands of God why? It declares in Galatians 5:16-17, ¹⁶Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. ¹⁷For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

Our sinful nature tries to dictate us, and we sense some sort of resistance whenever we hear the word of God. Christ commanded us not to worry but we worry about health, finances or the future. Worry is natural response to difficult struggles. But when we seek inspiration of the Holy Spirit and follow the righteous words of God, we sense joy and peace that we may not readily explain. The idea that God can soar on the wings of the winds suggests that God has capability beyond human understanding.

When Christ commanded us to seek his kingdom and his righteous and all things we need will be added, it includes things that we usually worry about. We must seek empowerment of the Holy Spirit to righteously behave and obey him.

Lord Jesus, help me behave righteously.
